#RISE: Tatyana McFadden Nordic Athlete
U.S. Paralympic athlete Tatyana McFadden has encountered challenging setbacks since childhood. Born with spina bifida that left her paralyzed below the waist, Tatyana lived in an orphanage and walked on her hands until she was adopted when she was six-years-old.
To help improve her physical strength, Tatyana’s mother Deborah introduced her to many different sports, and shined in wheelchair track and field where she became the youngest member of the USA Paralympic Track and Field team at the 2004 Paralympic Games. As a ten-time Paralympic medalist, Tatyana embarkedd on a new challenge for a medal in Nordic Skiing at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi.
